The Great Orme Copper Mine

Emily is going to be in North Wales today Monday July 9, 2007. She will be visiting the city of Chester, it was first settled by Romans in 79 AD. The Roman Centurions will be guiding them through Chester and telling them the history on the city. Emily will taking a tram ride up to the Great Orme Copper Mine. This is one of the country's most important archaeological sites, the mine dates back over 3000 years to the Bronze Age. It overlooks Llandudno.

Warwick Castle

Emily is at Warwick Castle today. She had a meeting with Parliament. Emily will be exploring the British Constitution and House of Commons,the House of Lords and the Monarch, a true honor for Student Ambassadors. Emily will visit Transfer to Stratford-Avon. She will be visiting William Shakespeare birth place and house. Emily will be sleeping at Warwick Castle tonight.

Emily is on her way to London

Emily boarded a ferry day that will be taking her to London. She will be spending the next two day in London. When she gets to London they will be taking a stroll in Covent Garden. Later in the day they will be taking a ride on the London Eye, this is the largest Ferris wheel in the world. Emily will be spending the night on a yacht.

Volendam

Hello everyone! Emily went to a farm run by a family who showed them how cheese and clogs were made. They also went on a 2 hour bike ride along the dikes. They will learn how the windmills pump water off the land. They stayed in Lille, France. Tomorrow she is off to London.

The Grand Canyon

Hello Everyone! If you didn't know David and I are chaperons for church camp this week. We are in Durago, Co. We stopped over for one at the Grand Canyon. If you have never been there if is a work of God. It is breathtaking. I have never seen anything like this before.

Fourth of July

Rotterdam Holland

Emily is in Rotterdam Holland the next two days. She was very excited about going here. Today they will be in Amsterdam. She will be learning about the eight people that were in hiding and their story portrayed through the diary of Anne Frank. Emily will be going to the house that they hid in during WWII. From the house she will be walking across one of the busiest canals to a flower market.
Tomorrow she will be going to Den Haag (The Hague) this is the seat of government and the residence of the Royal Family. The will be seeing the stately mansions and regal embassies as they stroll down the grand boulevards to the Peace Palace. Emily will be seeing the International Court of Justice, the main judicial body of the United Nations.

Phone Call

We talked to Emily yesterday afternoon. I was GREAT to hear her voice. She was in Belgium. They had a awesome time at the chocolate factory. She is having a great time and learning lots. Emily said that they were getting ready to go to Holland.

Emily and Belgium

Emily will be on her way to Belgium in the morning. She will be seeing the capital of Belgium (Brussels) and the international metropolis that is the headquarters for both the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). They will also be stopping at the Compiegne. Their last stop will be a local chocolate factory. This has been one of stops that Emily has been REALLY looking forward too. This kid LOVES chocolate. Maybe she will ship some home to mom (ha ha ha).
I did get an e-mail today from Brenda (delegation leader). She said everything is going great. The kids are a little tired, but they are doing a great job at keeping even tempers with each other.

Third Day in Paris

Today is Emily's last day in Paris. Today she went to the Eiffel Tower. She then will climb aboard a un Bateau, or riverboat for an afternoon cruise along the Seine river. Then her and her delegation will encounter the first organized roundabout and Napoleon's homage to his armies and himself the Arc de Triomphe.

Second day in Paris

This is day 2 for Emily. She is still in Paris. Today she went to the famous Musee Du Louvre. She will see the famous Mona Lisa painting. They will stroll around the famous artists' quarter of Montmartre. Emily will climb the series of steps to the La Sacre-Coeur for on the most impressive view of Paris. She will be going to an art workshop where she will have the opportunity to work with and art instructor to create her own masterpiece to bring home.

Updated our homestudy

We had to update our home study today. Since China is taking forever in there adoption referrals we are having to update our dossier. Hopefully China we speed things up soon.

First Day in Paris

Emily made it to Paris today. She got there about 12:30 Paris time. She is touring Notre-Dame Catherdral.

Emily leaves today!

I dropped Emily off this morning at LAX at 9:00. She was very excited. She has an hour layover in New York and then off to Paris, France. I will try to post everyday so everyone knows what she is doing. I want to thank everyone who helped her with this trip! Thank You, Thank You. This is a trip of a life time. Emily is going to learn alot and have a great time.

Emily Leaves for Europe Tomorrow

Emily and I (Christie) are going to go to LAX tonight. We are going to stay at the Sheraton. I will drop her off tomorrow at LAX. She is all packed and ready to go. She is going to have a great time.

Pismo Beach

On Father's Day we drove over to Pismo Beach. We went to visit some of our friends that just moved over there. It was a great day!

9 Months

Yesterday we have been logged in to China's system 9 months. If I was really pregnant it would have been our due date. It is funny to think about. We still have a while to wait.

Jacob goes on to High School

Jacob's 8th Grade Party

We had a party on Sunday for Jacob. He made through 8th grade! Now he is on to High School.

He start summer school on Monday. He seems to really enjoy it so far. He is taking a Math Foundations class and a Study Skills class. David and I are really proud of him! Keep up the good work Little Man!
