Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD)
I was diagnosed with this wonderful thing! I get to eat soft foods for Thanksgiving.
Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD)
Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) occur as a result of problems with the jaw, jaw joint and surrounding facial muscles that control chewing and moving the jaw.
What Is the Temporomandibular Joint?
The temporomandibular joint is the hinge joint that connects the lower jaw (mandible) to the temporal bone of the skull, which is immediately in front of the ear on each side of your head. The joints are flexible, allowing the jaw to move smoothly up and down and side to side and enabling you to talk, chew, and yawn. Muscles attached to and surrounding the jaw joint control the position and movement of the jaw.
What Causes TMD?
The cause of TMD is not clear, but dentists believe that symptoms arise from problems with the muscles of the jaw or with the parts of the joint itself.
Injury to the jaw, temporomandibular joint, or muscles of the head and neck – such as from a heavy blow or whiplash – can cause TMD. Other possible causes include:
Grinding or clenching the teeth, which puts a lot of pressure on the TMJ
Dislocation of the soft cushion or disc between the ball and socket
Presence of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis in the TMJ
Stress, which can cause a person to tighten facial and jaw muscles or clench the teeth
What Are the Symptoms of TMD?
People with TMD can experience severe pain and discomfort that can be temporary or last for many years. More women than men experience TMD and TMD is seen most commonly in people between the ages of 20 and 40.
Common symptoms of TMD include:
Pain or tenderness in the face, jaw joint area, neck and shoulders, and in or around the ear when you chew, speak or open your mouth wide
Limited ability to open the mouth very wide
Jaws that get "stuck" or "lock" in the open- or closed-mouth position
Clicking, popping, or grating sounds in the jaw joint when opening or closing the mouth (which may or may not be accompanied by pain)
A tired feeling in the face
Difficulty chewing or a sudden uncomfortable bite – as if the upper and lower teeth are not fitting together properly
Swelling on the side of the face
Other common symptoms include toothaches, headaches, neck aches, dizziness, earaches, hearing problems, upper shoulder pain, and ringing in the ears (tinnitis).

It's kinds worth it going and hanging out with the djs THAT EARLY in the morning.
He looks tired!!!!!
Jake went and sat in with the Dj's at KUZZ. It was alot of fun. He got to pick the trivia as well. Since he's a big Disney fan, he decided to have two Categories. Disneyland, and California Adventure. The Disneyland question was "What attraction was in the same location of Big Thunder Mountain?" (Answer was Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland). And California Adventure's question was "What was the original idea for Ca. Adventure?" (Answer was WestCot, a west coast version of EPCOT). He really likes talking to Steve, Goeff, and Tanya. Here's some pics dad took while on air.

Fresno
All four of us through the rear view mirror.
The three amigos.
Well, this was an interesting trip. We took Sou, one of the clients from Dai Break to meet up with his parents so he could go home for Thanksgiving. Well, we found out, once in Fresno, that he was supposed to go home, TOMORROW. So, we just had a fun drive to Fresno, for really no reason.

Apples or Oranges
Hannah was having so much fun today getting into everything! She was so bored. I went to my office to file some papers. I was not even gone 2 minutes and this littl egirl climbed onto the breakfast bar and was playing with the phones, but the fun really began when she noticed the apples and oranges in the bowl. Our little dog Daisy became a live target. Hannah began throwing the apples and oranges at the dog to make her run. I hear all of the noise so I come running down the hall to see her having so much fun. It was really funny to watch, but what she doesn't realize is that she could get hurt by climbing on everything. After I pick up all of the apples and oranges and get her onto playing with something else. I noticed that she was gone again. Hannah had ran into Emily's room and was climbing up the ladder to her bed. She was just full of energy today and having so much fun doing it.

Last game
Emily had her last volleyball game yesterday. She was kinda of sad that the season is over, but now on to basketball. She has never played basketball, but she is excited about learning the game. We have a few weeks off until basketball starts. They are going to let us get through the holidays before they start it up.
BOLT
Yesterday, Jacob won preview tickets for the movie BOLT from Disney. It is a really cute movie. It you get a chance go see it. This was Hannah's first movie theater experience. She loved it. She sat on Daddy's lap eating popcorn that Jacob and Emily fed her throughout the movie. I would have loved to get a picture, but no cameras were allowed.

Dr. Zerlin
I took Hannah to a different ear, nose, and throat doctor today. This is the same doctor that put pe tubes in Jacob and took Emily's tonsils out. He did the same test on Hannah yesterday that UCLA did on her last month. The tests show the same results. This child STILL has fluid in her ears. Dr. Zerlin is going to put tubes in her ears within the next few weeks. We are praying that she doesn't get and ear infection between now and then. I will keep you posted!

Last Game
Thursay and Friday night the Eagles had their last league game. Frosh-soph lost,JV lost, but Varsity had a great game. They won 35-28 against Taft, which knocked Taft out of the playoffs, and we now (as I understand) have home field advantage. We all had a lot of fun on both nights. Jake got some of the girls to come out and support the unnoticed frosh/soph squad. Man, those girls can CHEER! Throughout the whole game I could hear them in the stands doing cheers, and what was really cool, was that my mom taught some older ones from her high school days!! Steph, Lizzie, Katelin, Emily and Jennifer were a BIG part of the crowd. I gotta say, thanks for coming out. After the game, we all went to Ihop and had even more fun. Steph sang with a bottle of Tobasco sauce, and we dunked my phone in the water a few times just to see if it was waterproof. After Ihop, me and my dad took Steph, Katelin, and Jennifer home. Here's a tip, don't let girls get ahold of your radio....they change the channel SO MANY TIMES. The Friday game was just as much fun. The girls cheered even louder, and Jake met up with Wafflegirl again. They chatted for a while, and then the game ended and we all went home. Here's some pictures from the game.

Dad's surgery!
My dad had surgery today! They took out his gall bladder. The doctor's said that it is diseased. He is feeling much better after surgery. Dad said that he did not realize how much pain he was really in until removed his gall bladder.
Hannah's lip infection
Hannah got another infection today. I took her to the doctor and they said that she has an abcess on it. They are treating it as if it is a MRSA infection, but I don't think it is MRSA. Hannah is on antibodtics for 10 days again. I have to thank God that she is not running a temperature this time. If she does start we will have to be hospitalized again. So please pray that her temp stays down.

Arvin VS BCHS
CHARGE!
WHOOP! Haha this is a Chris Boomer moment. Christian Taylor on a breakout run with a juke against Arvin. This run went for a Touchdown.
Left, Left, Left, Right Left....'nuff said.
Oh! He got hit!
Ok, to fully understand what I'm talking about, go here and read the post left by Steph. http://williamsfamily1990.blogspot.com/2008/11/halloween-and-football.html
Steph, you know football, the sweatshirt proves it. Harvard....a girl with brains, in the books, and on the field. I'm impressed! ;-) But I'm not too sure about the other two.....
We all went to the Arvin game since BCHS was in Arvin this week, and they were playing SO FAR AWAY. It's only a two minute drive to Arvin High! Lol we had alot of fun. Jake took pictures for yearbook, and Mom and Dad visited with the Powells.

Ear, Nose, Throat Doctor & this and thats
Well, were do I start with this blog? Hannah had another appointment today with the ENT doctor. The doctor said that Hannah had some fluid on her ears, but nothing to worry about. The doctor doesn't want to put tubes in at this point. He thinks her ears will clear up on her own. This is a HUGE praise. God is amazing! I really thought we would be putting tubes in but I was wrong! Anyway, we do not have to go back to UCLA until January for her Cranial Facial team check and another hearing test. The only hang up will be is if she gets another ear infection and then we would have to go back to the doctor at UCLA. She got her clearance until January. Hannah has been so funny this week. She waves at everyone and she expects them to wave back and when they don't she screams REALLY loud. I am trying to tell her that not everyone waves back. Teresa you will like this one- she is trying to say Howdy! She has is almost down.
Emily has three more volleyball games and she is then on to basketball! She is doing good at school. You all know that 8th graders have a lot of DRAMA,so every night we hear all the drama for the day. It is really funny.
Jacob has two more football games and then he is on to conditioning for baseball. He is very excited at this baseball season. He is doing good this school year. He has a tough classes this year. He also has two fun classes photography and yearbook, but those have several deadlines.

18 months
Hannah is 18 months old today! It seems like we have had her forever and then I look back over the last few months and it seems like yesterday that they where placing her in our arms. She has changed so much the 4 months that we have had her. Her speech is improving everyday. She discovers something new everyday. Her smile and hugs are the most awesome thing in the world. Hannah also has had a lot to deal with since we have been home. In her short 4 months with us she has had her lip surgery and the staph infection. In the last few months God has been there with us through all of this. It is amazing how God works. He has brought so many wonderful people into our lives through this adoption. God has given us THREE wonderful children. It is amazing how Hannah shows her love for each one of us. Daddy she gives hugs and more hugs. Mom (Nan) she loves to sit on my lap and color and give hugs also. Jacob she loves to wrestle in the floor with him. Emily she wants her to play with her all of time. Again I have to say God has blessed me with a wonderful family!!!!
